In my last post I talked about exhaustion and how other people find it hard to understand the level of tiredness that we feel and how it adds to the effort of our days, but I didn't talk about how I try to deal with it. Fibro is so complex in the way it presents itself to each of us and we all have our different ways of living with it.....this is just mine. We are given lots of advice (on the web, not by my GP) about exercise and how important it is to us and I do agree, but accept that it's not possible for everyone. When I was still trying to work with it, my customers used to bring bananas in for me, as they give you an instant boost of energy - I must have looked as though I needed it :-) On the exercise, I printed up some sitting ones and tried those, as I found mobility difficult, but could manage some from my chair. I joined an over 50's fitness class too as it wasn't so strenuous and it was also good fun. As I progressed, I joined in some of their walks - sh...

'Life is one long process of getting tired' Samuel Butler

I look at this quote and wonder why Samuel Butler felt the need to describe life in this way. I even looked him up on wiki, but there is no mention of chronic illness, so I guess he found life a little hard. it does however seem quite appropriate for someone suffering with Fibromyalgia or similar - living can be tiring! I've not been very consistent with my blogging and I know that it's important to post regularly, but my life situation this last few years has been such that sharing would have been quite painful and also, I have been endlessly exhausted. That, to me, is one of the hardest things to explain to people - how tired we can be from what seem like the simplest tasks, or a having visitors for the day, or shopping or doing the things that we really enjoy. There is always a price to pay, but we mustn't let it stop us from living and we don't. I just wish people were more understanding of how this illness affects us. I used to say to family "I've had ...
